<!-- body="start" -->
<P>
Hi all...
<BR>
<P>I just joined this list in the hopes of getting a better understanding
<BR>
of a problem I've been having with sane, aic7xxx and an HP ScanJet 5p.
<BR>
I have searched high and low and could not find an answer, but I'm new
<BR>
to linux and scsi so don't be too harsh if it's been discussed or I
<BR>
missed something obvious. :-)
<BR>
<P>I am running RH7.0 with kernel 2.4.4, the latest aic7xxx drivers
<BR>
(6.1.13), an Adaptec 2930 scsi card and sane 1.0.4. The reason I am
<BR>
posting to this list is that I later connected an Exabyte 8mm tape
<BR>
drive to the system and was able to use it without any problems, hence
<BR>
making me think that something is wrond with the sane-backend.
<BR>
<P>When I do a 'scanimage -v &gt; /tmp/foo', most of the time it works.
<BR>
When I do a 'scanimage -v --mode color &gt; /tmp/foo, I always get the
<BR>
following messages in my /var/log/messages:
<BR>
<P>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Jun 1 10:36:20 boxster kernel: scsi0:0:2:0: Attempting to queue an ABORT message

<P>Here is the output from scanimage -T. The first is without the &quot;mode&quot;
<BR>

<P>And with the second example comes the messages in /var/log/messages

that I quoted above.
