Hi Volkmar,
It would be useful to see an image that was scanned with your scanner, I
think I will recognise if it is a calibration issue or not (but I suppose it
is). Furthermore a logfile can give some useful information about the
scanner. You can create one by setting "option dump 2" in the microtek2.conf
file. Then type an "export SANE_DEBUG_MICROTEK2=128" and "xscanimage 2>&1
|tee xscan.log". You may try this with my newest version of the microtek2
backend, you can get it at http://home.t-online.de/home/karsten.festag (I
added your model code in todays version).

Greetings

Karsten

> Hi,

>

> I have done some experiments to get my Microtek ScanMaker X12USL working

> with the Microtek2 Backend shipped with sane-1.0.4 by adding the model

> code 0xb0 to the check_inquiry function.

> Now the backend recognises the scanner on the scsi bus, it does scan

> images, it does even recognise the light-lid. However, I am not satisfied

> with the image quality. There is always a stripe of different colours

> running from top to bottom of a white page. I suspect this is a problem of

> calibration, but I am not an expert in this. Perhaps there is somebody who

> can give me a hint on how to tackle this problem (I have seen that some

> people are working on the microtek2 backend, do you have any suggestions

> what I should try to do?)

>

> Yours,

> Volkmar
