Oliver,

Thanks for the input. Your suggestions worked perfectly allowing for my local
configuration. For anyone else that may have the same problem, I am including
my modules.conf file below.

options ide-cd ignore=hdd
alias scsi_hostadapter aha152x
pre-install ide-scsi modprobe scsi_hostadapter
pre-install sg modprobe ide-scsi
alias block-major-11 ide-scsi
options scsi_hostadapter aha152x=0x140,9,1

Cheers,
Brian

> > I have a system with an Adaptec ISA SCSI adapter with a UMAX S-6E

> > attached and I have two IDE CD-ROM's (one being a CD-RW). I am running

> > RH 7.0. Has anyone had any success with getting regular SCSI drivers

> > loaded while loading up the ide-scsi driver? This is becomming a major

> > source of frustration. Am I better off getting a PCI SCSI adapter or

> > will that make any difference? If there is a way to make this work, a

> > detailed How-To would be appreciated.

>

> Hi Brian,

>

> I heard that a lot of people have problems with ide-scsi.o and

> SANE. I just got an IDE CD-burner and was interested if I get the

> same problems. I did several tests and have not had any problem

> with that.

>

> My configuretion is the floowing in /etc/conf.modules:

> alias scsi_hostadapter ncr53c8xx

> pre-install sg modprobe scsi_hostadapter

> post-install scsi_hostadapter modprobe ide-scsi

>

>

> So the ide-scsi driver is loaded after the ncr53c8xx driver.

> I do not know if that changes anything.

>

> Bye
