<P>I have a problem scanning as non-root as long as the modules are not loaded.
|
|
<BR>
|
|
<P>I'm using a HP6200 scanner with a Tekram 315 SCSI card (i have on board a
|
|
<BR>
|
|
7880 SCSI controller for disks and CD ROM) and kernel 2.4.0-prerelease with
|
|
<BR>
|
|
RedHat 7.0 and the sane software that was delivered with RedHat 7.0. I patched
|
|
<BR>
|
|
the kernel to get the Tekram card supported. This set-up works quite well,
|
|
<BR>
|
|
although not perfect.
|
|
<BR>
|
|
<P>I added this to my modules.conf to get the Tekram module loaded as soon as i
|
|
<BR>
|
|
access the scanner:
|
|
<BR>
|
|

# Preload Tekram module before sg module

|

alias char-major-21 sg
|
|

If I issue scanimage -L as root the modules are loaded and i get the correct

answer:

<P>device `hp:/dev/scanner' is a Hewlett-Packard C6270A flatbed scanner

|
<P>If I do this as a normal user it doesn't work and the debug says this:
