Hi,

Success! I downloaded a fresh copy of sane-1.0.3 and the latest snapscan
drivers, and dropped them in to sane-1.0.3/backend. First I compiled them
as-is, and linked xscanimage as a gimp plug-in, and was able to preview in
color, and scan in color up to 300 dpi. Next, I tried changing line 90 in
the snapscan.h file
from {"FlatbedScanner_4", VUEGO310S}
to {"FlatbedScanner_4", VUEGO610S},

since as I mentioned, the scanner is really 600 DPI even though the Vendor
string is "FlatbedScanner_4".
Recompiled and installed, and the scanner now scans up to 600 DPI!

Interesting to note that the dropdown menu in xscanimage for resolution has
choices up to 9600 DPI, but at higher resolutions, xscanimage hangs, and
uses 90% cpu. Actually, at 1200 DPI, I got one scan, but in the horizontal
dimension, the image was scrunched up on the left and there were Red Green
and Blue stripes in a black field on the right side.

Anyway, it looks great so far, thanks!

Next issue is to get 30 bit color depth. I have not tried to compile Xsane
with the new backend yet. What are my chances there?
> > I have similar problems to what is reported here. The scanner I have is

> > called

> > AcerScan (Prisa) 610ST It is a SCSI model with a built-in transparency

> > module.

>

> I will put a new version here:

>

>

> something like snapscan-30102000.tar.gz

>

> It adds auto preview mode (color or greyscale or... depending on

> scanning mode) thanks to Laurent Grawet.

>

> Someone has reported that the AGFA Snapscan 310 SCSI works well with

> this new version.

>

> It has been modified to support VUEGO310S, VUEGO610S and

> SNAPSCAN1236S. So it should correct your problem. I don't know if

> FlatbedScanner_4 is really used by some VUEGO310S or if it is only

> with VUEGOS610S (that would be annoying to have 2 different models

> with the same string...)

>

> I would really like to have some feedback for those versions. At this

> time it has only been reported to work with Acer 300f and Agfa 310.
