It seems the link points to some module to enable the use of a scsi adapter
that's connected to a parallel port. Let me see if I'm getting this
straight (100% newbie here, so be patient):
1. I have this parallel port scanner xyz1000P that doesn't have a sane
backend yet.
2. There's a sane backend for its scsi cousin, the xyz1000SC.
3. Then, probably the xyz1000P is just a xyz1000SC with some kind of
parallel port scsi adapter inside. If I know the adapter, I'll be able to
use this module to use a scsi driver to control a parport model.

Is this correct? If it is, why was my parallel port scanner much cheaper
then the scsi cousin? It has more hw inside (scsi+parport converter)!

If it isn't, can you explain a bit more?

TIA

> I know nothing about your scanner, but I know parallel scanners are
> supported.
> At http://www.torque.net/parport/ppscsi.html is a patch available. With
> the
> documentation at that webpage and the kernel-Howto you should be able to
> get
> the modules made, installed and loaded. This is for the adapter.
> You should check wat chipset this adapter uses and see if there is a
> module
> included that supports that chipset.
