Hi Gady

I've got a Umax Astra 1200s and a Tekram DC390.
There are two kernel drivers that work with the
Tekram DC390: AM53C974.o or tmscsim.o
The first one is somewhat old but worked for me
with the Umax scanner. The second is maintained
by Kurt Garloff but only the latest versions
(above 2.0d18) support the Umax scanner correctly.
I had problems very similar to yours with the older
drivers.
I now use tmscsim.o version 2.0d18 and it works fine.

Greetings

Andreas Rick
> Hi.
>
> I have an astra 600s and two scsi cards: a Tekram DC390 (IIRC) and an
> aha2940au. Under windows I can scan with the scanner connected to
> either. With sane/linux I can only use the scanner when it is connected
> to the aha2940. When the scanner is connected to the Tekram and I use
> xscanimage, the scanning line gets stuck mid-way and there is no visible
> output
>
> Its probably not related, but there are two other devices connected to
> the Tekram adapter. However, the scanner wouldn't work under linux even
> when connected directly to the Tekram. When connecting all three devices
> to the aha2940, none of the operating systems could use the scanner.
>
> Any ideas anyone? I'd love to free a PCI slot by dumping the other scsi
> adapter.
