>Hi. This is not *directly* related to SANE, but could somebody advise
>me what format I should use to scan images so that I could print them
>out in their original size?
>
>I've been using xsane as a plugin for Gimp, or I would scan something
>into a jpeg file, at resolution of 400. All my consequtive attempts to
>print out such image would result in either a scaled-to-fit-page-width
>one, or in a magnified segment of an image.

If you are printing via the Gimp, just tell the Gimp to print at the
same resolution which you scanned:

File -> Print to get the Print dialog/plugin. It has a "Scaling"
option, and you can select "Percent" or "PPI". Select "PPI", and
type in "400". The default is 100%.

I recall the version I have at home has some subtle bug that I always
have to select Percent, then reselect PPI and retype the resolution,
or it doesn't quite register the right number.

(This is all for version 2.0.2 "16 May 1998" of the Print plugin.
That's what it says at the top.)
