> Hi folks,
> I ´ve got a problem with two scsi-scanners under Linux. How can I make
> both accesible? According to /proc/scsi/scsi both are recognized in the
> system. I am running a SuSE 6.1 Linux; the yast menu allows only one
> scanner to be installed and when doing it manually there is the problem
> with the ln -s for /dev/scanner: Which one should I let the symlink
> point to?
>
> If I try to set the device in xscanimage to /dev/sg0 or /dev/sg1 the
> scanner can not be reached by the program, only if there is the symlink
> to /dev/scanners this device is found, the other one seems to be "linked
> against /dev/null".
>
Hi Sebastian,

there is no problem running two scanners under linux.
1) /dev/scanner is not needed at all
2) you have to add the device in the backend's configuration file,
eg /usr/local/etc/sane.d/umax.conf
3) you need read and write access to both devices (e.g. chmod 666 /dev/sgx
where x are your scanner deives)

Bye
Oliver
