Hi,<br>
<p>
I've solved my problem with my Microtek ScanMaker 636 by buying a cheap<br>
AVA 2902 for it only... AND IT WOKS ! (and fine !)<br>
<p>

please inform anybody for this "cheap scsi interface" problem with<br>

microtek ...<br>

This is a totally different problem and usually related to very poor<br>
scanner interface design on the part of the scanner maker. I would<br>
suggest you get a separate 2902 or similar card for the scanner since no<br>
amount of intelligence in the driver can work around truly poor firmware<br>
designs in scanners. Now, having said that, I can't test this since I<br>
don't own a scanner and I could be wrong, but that's been my impression<br>
when fixing these problems in the past.<br>

Hi,
<p>
well, sane 1.00 bugs my AIC 7890 controller with timeouts that force me to
use
the "Microsoft button" ;-) which is not fun for 18 Go checking next ...
<p>
my actual conf is kernel 2.2.1 with an Asus MB+AIC 7890 (2x8.7 Go DD UW on
<p>
U2 slot, and external chain on UW slot ...).
<p>
I don't know what you mean by microtek2 (I hope it is not scsi2 because
the
SCSI slot is SCSI 1....)
<p>
TIA,
