No. There is no technical problem (well - there is one, but none, that<br>
couldn't be solved with a few lines of code), but a documentation problem.<br>
<p>
Scanner manufacturers seemingly think, that their parallel port protocols<br>
are so stupid that everyone would laugh at them for decades, if they<br>
would give them out. <br>
<p>
And it is pretty enervating work to reverse engineer any protocol. The<br>
problem is probably, that it takes a real freak to do that, and real<br>
freaks tend to use SCSI anyway. <br>
<p>
That are the main reasons, why parallel scanners are not supported as well<br>
as SCSI ones in SANE.<br>
