This is really an OS issue, rather than a SANE issue. SANE talks to<br>
the OS's SCSI interface. E.g. on FreeBSD with CAM (Common Access<br>
Method; an ANSI standard), SANE talks to CAM, which, in turn, talks<br>
to the SIM (i.e. driver for the SCSI card) which talks to the<br>
hardware. <br>
<p>
To support the card that comes with the umax scanner, a SIM would need <br>
to be written for that card, on the particular OS you are concerned<br>
with (which you didn't mention).<br>
