Hi

I have an ARTEC AT12 scanner which I am hoping to get working with SANE.
The SCSI card I have is the one that came with the scanner. The man page
for artec scanners under SANE says:

<quote>
SCSI ADAPTER TIPS
Some Artec scanners come with an included SCSI adapter. At present,
no-one has reported using this SCSI adapter with SANE. If you can get it
working under your OS, it might work with SANE.
</quote>

First question: has anyone ever got this SCSI card to work under Linux
(I'm using Debian 2.0 if that makes any difference). If so, what did you
do? I have the generic SCSI support module installed in the kernel but
nothing I have tried so far will persuade linux to notice the card. I have
flicked through the SCSI-Programming-HOWTO and tried things like
echo "scsi add-single-device a b c d" > /proc/scsi/scsi but the scanner
remains resolutely non-visible, the generic scsi devices remain resolutely
not connected to it and /proc/scsi/scsi ramains empty of anything which
might suggest that the scanner was available.

Second question: Does anyone have any details on what sort of SCSI card
ARTEC supply? If I knew that, I could make more sense of the
documentation.

Third question: Does anyone know for sure that the SCSI card supplied with
ARTEC scanners will never work under Linux? If that is the case, can I get
another card? Any recommendations? (I have no other SCSI devices).

Clearly, If I get the card working I'll post here to say what I did.

Many thanks in advance,

Hugh Pumphrey
