> I have been desperatedly working in the past 2 days on having the
> Adaptec AVA-1502AE (not simply AVA-1502E: 1st question:
> IS THERE ANY DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE 2?) recognized by linux.

I do not think so. Adaptec cards are fairly compatible. At least,
if they only differ in one letter ...

> My attempts failed. I tried both with sg and aha152x compiled into
> the kernel with a lilo command line AND with the modularized version
> of the 3 scsi modules (scsi_mod sg and aha152x).
> I suppose in both cases I provided the wrong configuration line.

Can't say much about that. Maybe. That's an awful lot of parameters
these drivers get.

> In the manual I have 5 jumpers, IRQ9, IRPQ10, IRQ11, IRQ12 and ALT.
> On the card I have:
> INT0
> INT1
> IRQ12
> IRQ11
> IRQ10
> IRQ9

I am pretty sure, that INT0/INT1 do not have anything to do with
interrupts, because

1. all others are called IRQ. Why should these be called INT ?
2. IRQ0 and 1 are taken by timer/keyboard.

If you do not have the "ALT" Jumper (which normally selects the base-
address, IIRC between 0x140 and 0x340, maybe the INT jumpers are the
replacement allowing for more addresses. What does the kernel say, when
you try to insert the module ? The error message (look in /var/log,
if you see none) would be very helpful ...

> Another question is: do you need in /etc/conf.modules the entries 'alias
> sga sg' and 'scsi_hostadapter aha152x'??

If you want automatic module loading, yes. At least for the scsi_hostadapter
line. The sga/sg line isn't needed on my system ...
