Hello,

David> Eric> There is an expanded HP backend written by Geoffrey T. Dairiki
David> Eric> (dairiki@apl.washington.edu) with much more of the SCL backend
David> Eric> implemented for various HP scanners.
...
David> Eric> In his last post to this newsgroup, the patch is at:
David>
David> Eric>
ftp://irving.apl.washington.edu/pub/sane/sane-0.68-newhp.patch.README
David> Eric>
ftp://irving.apl.washington.edu/pub/sane/sane-0.68-newhp.patch.gz
David>
David> Eric> and is for sane-0.68
David>
David> I'm very interested in seeing the backend replace the current HP
David> backend in the SANE distribution. If someone ends up making progress
David> with the new backend, please let me know.
David>

I picked up the sources and had some problems with compilation on Linux.
After fixing that, it even wont work with my HP Photosmart photoscanner
(bad responses from scanner).
So now I want to try to lift it to sane 0.71 and see where the problem is.
When I get it running, I can pass the sources to the list for additional
tests on other HP-scanners.

Sincerely

Peter
