> Eric> expanded HP backend with much more of the SCL backend
[ ... ]
>I'd be happy to replace the current HP backend with Geoffrey's as soon
>as we're reasonably certain that the new backend works at least as
>well as the old one. I just want to avoid shipping two different HP
>backends with SANE (no need to confuse new users that way).
5p. The front end starts up looking the same with only a couple new
buttons. These buttons add custom gamma tables.

The only problem w/ the front end is that custom gamma tables are
forgotten between sessions. They show up in the save file, but don't
get reincarnated into the control-graph.

I spent a lot of time trying to become familiar with it so I could do
a merge and/or enhancement, and I fiddled with about every button.
Everything else does quite well, and there isn't much left to expand.

Otherwize, it is a really good improvement, and I would never want to
give up the gamma table again. I am happy to test anything if need
be.
