thanks for your reply. You should know that I very much<br>

|
appreciate your work in the sane project. <br>
|
|
<p>
|
|
About the UMAX scanner. Since <br>
|
|
<p>
|
|
a) the scsi card that comes with it is not supported by Linux,<br>
|
|
and you have to buy a separate scsi card >= $50. (No, <br>
|
|
most people here in the USA do NOT have an scsi card in<br>
|
|
contrast to Germany, where people seem to be crazy about<br>
|
|
them ... )<br>
|
|
<p>
|
|
and<br>
|
|
<p>
|
|
b) you need to by an new cable that will fit with it >= $30<br>
|
|
( which incidentally is hard to find )<br>
|
|
<p>
|
|
The UMAX, while otherwise a great scanner ( it appears ) is a bad<br>
|
|
choice, you can get for the same price ~ $200 get an E6 with an<br>
|
|
Adaptec card that should work fine. <br>
|
|
<p>
|
|
It would really be great if you could mention such things on the<br>
|
|
Web page. It took me almost 2 weeks to prod this information out<br>
|
|
of you guys. By putting this information up on the web site,<br>
|
|
you would make it much easier for people to orient oneself.<br>
|
|
