oh, i do give you guys the benefit of the doubt. i wasn't being critical at all<br>
, just wondering if you had any suggestions. :)<br>

i'll check the config.log and see if there are any clues there. i also cleared <br>
out a partition and setup an installation of the latest stable version of Debian<br>
. i'll see how the install goes there.<br>

Matt&gt; btw, I'm running the latest development version of Debian ('hamm' or<br>
Matt&gt; unstable), which includes fvwm2.0.46 and gtk 970925. I'm also using<br>
Matt&gt; AccelX 2.1.<br>
<p>
Matt, if you're running an unstable version of Debian, you should be<br>
willing to give SANE the benefit of doubt and suspect a bug in Debian<br>
instead. configure produces a config.log file which may give hints<br>
as to what's going wrong.<br>
