Hi !

> I'm unsure of what's really going on with those scanners. To make
> progress, we first need to get a clear picture of what is and is not
> working.
Yes - I was thinking of starting such an effort, too, but was too busy.
However in the long run it should save a lot of work ...

> So, if you have an MFS-12000SP scanner, I'd really
> appreciate if you could fill out this little survey (even if you
> reported problems/successes before):

> - What version of SANE are you using?
Just got 0.62. Compiled fine (except for PINT support which probably died
due to very old PINT headers installed on my system).

> - How was SANE configured? Did you use the --disable-ld-fix option?
No special config options except for disabling PINT.

> - What SCSI adapter are you using?
NCR53c400 based card (non-PNP) shipped with the scanner. Using standard linux
g_NCR5380 module.

> - Does grayscale scanning work fine at various resolutions and without
> dropped lines (e.g., try to scan a diagonal line to detect dropped
> lines).
Yes. Tried 18,50,100,300,600,1200. Diagonal line appears perfect. No drops,
no other flaws.

> - Does color scanning work?
Yes. Tried 18,100,300,600,1200. No color distortions except for the two initial
"stripes" resulting from the alternate correction code.

> - Include the output of command:
> SANE_DEBUG_MUSTEK=3 scanimage -h -d mustek >/dev/null

[sanei_init_debug]: Setting debug level of mustek to 3.
[mustek] attach: opening /dev/scanner
[mustek] attach: sending INQUIRY
[mustek] attach: sending TEST_UNIT_READY
[mustek] attach: firmware revision 1.00
[mustek] attach: using special line-distance algorithm
[mustek] attach: found Mustek scanner model MFS-12000SP (flatbed scanner)

I will try with -disable-ld-fix tomorrow, if I find time. Should probably
yield some errors.

Another thing : A fried of mine has managed to make the scanner hang by
sending totally bogus values for the window size. It is really the scanner
that hangs. I had to power-cycle the server which hung but when it came up
again, it hung at the point where the SCSI-module is inserted. Power-cycling
the scanner solved the problem. Maybe I will look into this, too.
