Can you tell me exactly what leads to hangs? I won't claim that the<br>
|
|
Mustek backend can avoid hangs for all possible error cases, but I<br>
|
|
have been using the backend for quite a while now and don't even<br>
|
|
recall the last time it got stuck (and I'm not particularly careful in<br>
|
|
dealing with the scanner).<br>

This looks like the read was hit by the SCSI timeout (see comment in<br>

sane-mustek(5)). If you get "ncr dead?" messages in your /var/log/messages<br>
|
|
file, than that's the problem. In the file:<br>

/usr/src/sys/linux/drivers/scsi/ncr53c8xx.c<br>
|
|
<p>
|
|
you should find a line:<br>
|
|
<p>
|
|
if (np->latetime>10) {<br>
|
|
<p>
|
|
right above the "ncr dead?" message. Change the 10 to, say, 60<br>
|
|
(seconds) and the problem will go away.<br>
|
|

Yes, based on the info you provided, it looks like it's really just a<br>

regular Paragon 600 IISP with newer firmware. That's good.<br>
